I give up my title of Miss Douglas County Outstanding Teen October 13. It is so crazy that one night could completely change my life forever. I am humbled, honored, and blessed to have 365 days to make an impact. I have logged over 100 hours of community service and plan on doing more. My last goal as Miss Douglas County Outstanding Teen is to fund raise $300 for our national platform, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. I have personally raised $245 so far, please help me reach my goal. Any amount is greatly appreciated!

Miss Nebraska week has officially begun! The Miss Nebraska contestants competed in the first night of preliminary competition. Congratulations to Rachel Foehlinger, Miss Lincoln, for winning the prelim talent award with her amazing baton twirling! The girls did amazing and the judges are in for a very hard job this weekend.

Tomorrow morning I am to the high school for rehearsals all morning and interview in the afternoon. I am feeling very confident with how everything will go and I know God has a plan bigger than I can ever imagine, so this weekend I will be giving everything to him and giving him ultimate control. Tomorrow evening will be finished with the second night of Miss Preliminary’s which will narrow the competition from 13 contestants to the top 7 contestants.

As most of you are aware, my faith is a huge aspect of my life and it isn’t something I would ever give up for anything in the world. I have previously talked about how over the weekend I will be giving God control. I would like to share a bible verse with you every night that I will be taking to heart the following day.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Unfortunately, my six AM wake up call is going to come sooner than expected, so this is all for now and I promise to post again tomorrow!

I recently blogged about my trip to Omaha for the Princess Party Package from the silent auction benefiting Angels Among Us, a gala which I attended last October. Today I was off again to help with the second party at clara’s closet. We had a group of seven energetic six year olds this morning who were ready to go! We began by sitting in a circle for introductions and rules for the afternoon. Next, we went into the closet where the girls got to put on fun dresses and crazy accessories. Following that, we went into the glamour room were the girls got there nails painted and there makeup done. Finally, we had a wedding with the girls and the birthday girl got to marry a Disney princess and all of her friends were her bridesmaids! Last but certainly not least, the girls ate cake, did arts and craft projects, opened presents, and got our autographs, of course!

Our lovely bride for the day. She was such a funny diva!

What would a birthday be without birthday cake?!

The group attending the birthday party

Unfortunately only two “Princess Parties” were given away at the Angels Among Us gala so this will be my last one I will be attending. I am so thankful for the families who support such a wonderful cause by supporting Angles Among Us.

That is all for now,

Saturday afternoon I assisted at the Autism Puzzle Walk, sponsored by the Autism Society of Nebraska. I woke up bright and early for a common drive to Omaha, NE. I arrived at the walk, just in time for check-in.

I had an opportunity to sit at a booth during the walk and talk to families and friends and having the chance to promote my platform, Speaking Out for Autism awareness, as well as promoting the Miss America Outstanding Teen system.

I am very fortunate to have been given all of these opportunities working through the Autism Family Network (AFN) as well as The Autism Society of Nebraska (ASN) who have been very courteous while working with my schedule and making sure that I stay as involved with the Autism community as possible.

Yours truly,

Raeann

Last October the Miss Omaha queens helped out at the Angels Among Us gala by auctioning off silent auction items. Two of the silent auction items were a Princess Party Package. Today I was off to Elkhorn to Clara’s Closet where I was greeted by five year old Lexi and her mother. Lexi’s friends quickly arrived and we got started! The girls got to dress up and get their nails and makeup done. Finally, we had a pageant where the girls got to strut their stuff down the runway! At the end of the show the girls got crowns and banners based on their personality.

Last but not least Miss Lexi walked the runway! It was Lexi’s 5th birthday, and we got to celebrate it with her. I hope that she had as much fun as we did. :)

All of the girls who attended the party, and Miss Omaha and Miss Omaha Outstanding Teen.

Until next time,
